For 27 years, I taught high school math in California’s public schools, covering every grade level and course from Basic Math through Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, and Trigonometry. Over nearly three decades in the classroom, I saw again and again how the right explanation at the right moment can turn frustration into confidence. I retired in June 2026 and moved to Colorado Springs to be closer to my daughter and grandchildren, and I’m excited to keep doing what I love most: helping students understand math and maybe even enjoy it. When I’m not working through equations, you’ll probably find me in the kitchen cooking or baking, which I like to think of as math you can eat.

My rate is $45 per hour, and I’d love to hear from you, so please fill out the contact form below to get started or email me at ehoeymath@gmail.com.
